Regular Programs

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is a place and a time to make a transition from home to school. The kindergarten classroom is a busy place, with lots of activities to help children learn. The room itself is colourful and friendly, planned to make kindergarten fun and stimulating for your child. Our kindergarten program is designed so that your child develops the literacy, numeracy, and social skills that will prepare him or her for The kindergarten program at Millwoods Christian School strives to develop the whole child. We create a positive, caring environment for growth to take place in each child. Our kindergarten offers a strong academic program that establishes the necessary foundation for children to be successful in the first grade. Throughout the school year, we also look for and encourage social, physical, spiritual, creative and emotional development. When a child experiences growth in any one of these important dimensions, we can say that they are learning.

Elementary 

All students at Millwoods Christian School will grow academically and spiritually as we create a learning community that is responsive to the diverse needs of those we teach and that challenges all students to grow in faith, character and leadership.At Millwoods Christian School we offer a full range of academic courses, following the Alberta Program of Studies. We take professional development very seriously and seek to provide the best learning experiences possible for our teachers so that they are well equipped to ensure the success of all our students. Our teachers work in collaborative teams to review required learning outcomes, build common assessments and select appropriate instructional practices to meet the needs of all learners. We regularly review data to see how well students are learning to put intervention plans in place as required. We are committed to working together so that all students learn.

Junior High

Our rigorous yet balanced junior high program provides students with a strong academic understanding of Alberta curriculum while helping them grow in faith and service-leadership capacity. All students will participate in Religious Studies courses which include monthly Scripture memory and service learning opportunities. Chapels are held once a week and all students participate in 2 spiritual emphasis retreats per year. Spanish and French are offered as second languages. Students are also able to participate in a wide variety of options including Construction Technology, Food Studies, Fitness, Band, Drama, Computers and Art. MCS also has competitive sports teams in which students can try out for including, volleyball, basketball, cross country running, track and field, cheerleading, golf and football for grade 9 students. Students who wish to deepen their understanding of curriculum are able to participate in our junior high pre-AP program.

Senior High

Millwoods Christian high school has a strong record of high academic, athletic and performing arts success. Ranked in the top 10% of Alberta high schools, MCS offers a well-rounded program designed to equip high school students with not only an excellent academic basis for continued success into post-secondary, but also with a strong spiritual foundation and interpersonal skills needed to succeed beyond high school. Our international service trip program sends over 100 students to the countries of Belize, The Dominican Republic and Jamaica each year. This provides students with the opportunity to apply their understanding of service-leadership in authentic contexts. Students who are motivated to learn beyond the scope of Alberta curriculum are encouraged to participate in our AP program. Options available to MCS high school students include Drama, Musical Theatre, Forensic Science, Computer Tech, Construction Tech, Food Studies, Art, Choir, Sports Performance, Psychology and Calculus. All students will also be enrolled to take either Religious Studies or Team Leadership classes each year. Both course streams include monthly Scripture memory work and the application of Biblical principles to everyday life. Our commitment to training students as servant-leaders is supported by all students participating in either local or international service projects.
